In November I spent two weeks visiting Los Angeles. One of the highlights of the trip was driving the Pacific Coast Highway from Santa Monica north to Ventura. I recall the beauty of the communities nestled on the hillside, overlooking the spectacular beaches along the Pacific Coast. Now the Pacific Coast Highway is a disaster zone, parts of it are closed, and the areas that are open offer a devastating landscape of burned-out houses, lost memories, and misery.

I enjoyed being on Pacific Coast time as well.  It was nice to be able to watch NFL games while eating breakfast...

Today I crossed two things off my bucket list, watching the classic battle between rivals USC and UCLA, and going to the Rose Bowl.

Laughter is so important: I try to make it part of every day. 

Each curve in the road brought another scenic view just waiting to be discovered. 

At the UCLA Athletic Hall of Fame, I got a good overview of the history and traditions of the various sports. 

Of all the times I’ve been to Los Angeles, I’ve never been to the Santa Monica Pier, so today I made it a point to go there. 

J. Paul Getty created this museum to allow visitors to experience Greek and Roman art.  There are beautiful statues, bowls, jewelry, etc.

I attended two excellent shows in the planetarium and then viewed the stars outside via telescopes. The view of Los Angeles was incredible!
