Today I went to SoFi Stadium to watch the Rams – Eagles game. SoFi Stadium, along with the Mercedes-Benz Dome in Atlanta, are two of the nicest stadiums I’ve been to. The field is built into a bowl, so when you enter you are already on the fourth level, with just a short walk to the fifth level, where my seat was.
The stadium is not completely enclosed, both ends are open to admit outside air. It was kinda like sitting in your living room with a roof over your head but having two (giant) windows in the walls on either side of you. Since the game was in the evening it was chilly again. But with Sunday Night Football starting at 5:15 PM Pacific Time, it wasn’t as cold as a true night game would have been.
This was my final day in Los Angeles. I enjoyed the beauty of the beaches and the laid-back vibe of California. I enjoyed being on Pacific Coast time as well. It was nice to be able to watch NFL games while eating breakfast, and when the Sunday night game ended it was only 8:30 PM.
While L.A. traffic can be congested, I grew up near Washington D.C. and didn’t find the traffic any worse than other major cities. You just have to allow extra time in any city you visit, as you never know when a congested area will pop up.
I also want to give a shout-out to the Santa Monica High School Vikings baseball team. My window overlooked the baseball field, and I watched them practice every evening, and play a scrimmage against another team on Saturday. (It must be nice to be able to have baseball practice in November). Good luck Vikings, I hope you have a good season.
