Just an Ordinary Kid

Scott is a high school junior. He enjoys watching football with his dad and playing video games online with his friend Jake. Right now, he is going through a growth spurt and feels like he’s living in someone else’s body. He is shy, especially around girls, and even more so around his crush, Lisa Collins.
He loves listening to classic rock oldies, and some of his favorite bands include AC/DC, Van Halen, Queen, and Aerosmith.

Despite not being particularly athletic, Scott is an accurate field goal kicker for the football team. He credits his accuracy to playing youth soccer in elementary and middle school. When he decided he wanted to try out for the football team, his dad set up a goal in the backyard with a cardboard cut-out. Scott practiced endlessly to improve his accuracy.
Scott is ambivalent about the future. He is looking for purpose in life. He wants to be more than just “an ordinary kid,” but hasn’t found his calling yet.

Lisa Collins

Lisa and Scott have been in the same class since she moved to town in the second grade. She is kind and loyal, and values what’s in a person’s heart more than their outer appearance. While not considered one of the “cool” kids, she has a lot of friends, including some of the cheerleaders, which brings her to a lot of football games. She loves drawing and is working with her art teacher to develop her talent.
Lisa enjoys pop music. You will find Taylor Swift, Chappell Roan, Bruno Mars, and Billie Eilish on her playlists. She also likes Bon Jovi and loves when the high school band plays “Livin’ On a Prayer” at the football games. She always dances and sings along with the crowd.

Skye King

Skye was devastated after moving to a new school and leaving her friends, right before junior year. While outgoing and vivacious at her old school, now she feels invisible. Nobody understands her. Not like her old friends. She prefers wearing black, usually ripped, clothes and sometimes she forgets to brush her hair. Not like her parents care. They only complain when she acts sullen and rebellious. She finds a kindred spirit in Vince. She feels like Vince is the only one who understands her and is different than all the jocks. Although sometimes he makes her nervous. Joan Jett, Blondie, and Paramore monopolize her headphones.

Vince Foster

Vince is arrogant, rebellious, flouts authority, and bullies anyone who stands out. However he can be charming, and some people admire his rebellious ways and how he challenges authority figures. He rides a motorcycle and is leader of the Vipers, a high school gang. Members of the gang don't fit in with the other kids and idolize Vince. If they make it past the initiation, that is. Although not a heavy drug user, Vince is a small time dealer and steals beer from his dad. He has a crush on Skye, the new girl, and charms her with his "outsider" status. And being unfamiliar with his reputation, she falls for it. His musical tastes include The Ramones and Smiths.
